Prepare a video for LINE

LINE on a phone cuts videos longer than five minutes down to five. Decide which part to keep before you send it. It never leaves your device.

  1. Choose a video

    Drop a video here, or

Your video never leaves your device

  2. What do you want to do?

  3. How do you want to edit it?

  4. Make the file

Four promises

No upload

Your video is handled only on your own device. It is never sent anywhere, so you can safely use it with work or school videos.

Just pick

Pick Discord as the place you are sending to, and the size and the picture quality are set for you. There is nothing complicated to set up.

No watermark

Nothing is stamped onto your video, and there is no limit on how many you make.

Picture quality like the pros

We use the numbers people use in video work. If the picture quality is going to drop a lot, we tell you before you save.

How to use it

  1. Choose the video you want to send on LINE.
  2. Pick "LINE (chat)" as the destination. Anything over five minutes is trimmed for you.
  3. To choose which part to keep, pick "Edit the length" first.
  4. Make the file, then send it on LINE yourself.

When a video will not send on LINE, or gets cut at 5 minutes (what we found by testing)

Tips from the pros

  • **LINE does not publish any limits.** The numbers here come from actually sending test files to ourselves (12 September 2026). The often-quoted "five minutes" only appears officially in a completely different feature.
  • **Give LINE on a phone a ten-minute video and you get the first five minutes.** If the part that matters is later, trim it yourself first. That is the whole point of this page.
  • **LINE on a computer behaves differently.** Videos over five minutes are sent as files rather than videos, with a seven-day expiry, and cannot be played inline.

Common questions

How long can a LINE video be?

In our own test, LINE on a phone cut anything over five minutes down to five (12 September 2026). LINE publishes no limit, so this is a measured value.

What happens to a ten-minute video?

On a phone, only the first five minutes are sent. Trim to the part you want first if the good bit is later.

Is there a size limit?

We did not find one — a 600 MB video went through. From a computer, though, large videos are sent as files instead.

Is the phone different from the computer?

Yes. A computer will send videos over five minutes, but as a file with a seven-day expiry that has to be downloaded.

Does LINE reduce the quality?

Files arrived at exactly their original size, so they were not re-compressed. Videos sent as videos may be shrunk by LINE.
