Compress a video for Teams
Make a video small enough to attach in a Teams chat. It never leaves your device, so it never passes through an outside service.

Four promises
No upload
Your video is handled only on your own device. It is never sent anywhere, so you can safely use it with work or school videos.
Just pick
Pick Discord as the place you are sending to, and the size and the picture quality are set for you. There is nothing complicated to set up.
No watermark
Nothing is stamped onto your video, and there is no limit on how many you make.
Picture quality like the pros
We use the numbers people use in video work. If the picture quality is going to drop a lot, we tell you before you save.
How to use it
- Choose the video you want to send.
- Pick "Microsoft Teams (chat)" as the destination.
- Check "What you will get" to compare the size before and after.
- Make the file, then attach it in Teams yourself.

Tips from the pros
- **Teams has two different limits.** A chat attachment can be up to 100 MB (ten files per message). A file put in the Files tab can be up to 250 GB — a completely separate allowance.
- Drag a big video into the chat box and it stops at 100 MB. Put it in the Files tab instead and share the link in chat.
- Teams does not re-compress video, so what you make here is what arrives.
Common questions
How large can a Teams chat attachment be?
Microsoft documents 100 MB per file, up to ten files per message (checked 12 September 2026).
I heard the limit was 250 GB?
That is for the Files tab, backed by SharePoint. Dragging into the chat box is capped at 100 MB.
Do meeting recordings work the same way?
No. Recordings have their own limit of four hours or 1.5 GB.
Does the quality drop?
Not on the Teams side — only by as much as you compress here. 100 MB keeps a few minutes of video looking good.
Is it safe for work videos?
Your video is processed on your own device and never sent anywhere, so it never passes through an outside server.
Keep going with this video
Your video carries over. You do not have to choose it again.
