We use the numbers people use in video work. If the picture quality is going to drop a lot, we tell you before you save.
How to use it
- Choose your video.
- Under "How do you want to edit it?", pick "Zoom in".
- Set how much, then drag the picture to choose which part to show.
- Press "Done", then make the file.
Getting closer makes the point land
Something small in the frame does not reach the viewer. Zooming in changes what the same video communicates.
- Showing work done by hand
- Making part of a screen (an error message, say) large
- Bringing a distant subject closer
What you see is what gets exported. Drag the picture to place it, the same way you crop a photo on a phone.
Watch the quality
Zooming enlarges part of the original picture. The higher the zoom, the rougher it gets.

Shooting in 4K leaves room to zoom later.
No moving zoom
Zoom in SakuConvert stays at the same place and the same magnification from start to finish. Pushing in gradually or panning is not available; use editing software for that.
Zoom or crop?
- Crop — when you need a particular shape (16:9, 1:1, 9:16)
- Zoom — when the shape stays and you just want to be closer
Both leave more file size for what is left, so pairing them with compression protects quality.
Tips from the pros
- Above 1.5x the picture starts to look blurry. From a 4K video, even 2x keeps the sharpness of 1080p.
- To make something other than the middle bigger, use "Crop the picture" and move the frame.
- We do not offer a zoom that moves in as it plays (it loses quality easily and makes the tool complicated).
Common questions
Can it move in as it plays?
No. It stays the same size all the way through.
Which part gets bigger?
The middle of the picture. To choose somewhere else, use "Crop the picture".
What happens to the picture quality?
It gets rougher by as much as you enlarge it. Above 1.5x you get a warning.
Does my original video change?
No. A new file is made.
Can I use 4x?
You can, but even a 4K video looks noticeably rough. We suggest staying around 2x.
