How to use it

- Under "How do you want to edit it?", pick "Change the volume".
- Press "Mute".
- Press the button to make the silent version.
When you want the sound gone
- Conversation in the background. You want to show the screen, not the voices.
- Music playing where you filmed. Upload destinations may flag it.
- You need the file size. Removing audio gives that space to the picture.
How much space it frees
A video with 128kbps audio uses about 0.96MB per minute for sound.

When you are aiming at 8MB or 10MB, that difference matters (8MB, 10MB).
Can I mute just one part?
This page mutes the whole video. To silence part of it, split the video around that section with edit the length, or use editing software.
If you only need it quieter, change the volume offers “half” and “quieter”.
Muting cannot be undone
The exported file has no audio to restore. Always keep your original.
Tips from the pros
- Removing the sound frees up room. If a video is only just over a limit, muting it can be enough.
- You cannot silence only part of a video. Cutting that section out is usually quicker.
- Your original file is untouched — the silent version is saved as a new file.
Common questions
How much smaller does it get?
By the size of the soundtrack — roughly 1 to 1.5 MB per minute at typical bitrates.
Does the picture get worse?
The video is rebuilt, so there is a small loss. Choose the "High" quality setting if you want to keep as much as possible.
Can I put the sound back later?
Not here. Keep your original file.
Can I mute just one part?
No. Cut that section out instead, or use a full editor.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser.
