Compress a video to 50 MB

Fits your video into 50 MB. It never leaves your device.

  1. Choose a video

    Drop a video here, or

Your video never leaves your device

  2. What do you want to do?

  3. How do you want to edit it?

Pick as many as you like. Each one opens its own editing screen, and they are all applied in one pass at the end.

  4. Make the file

Four promises

No upload

Your video is handled only on your own device. It is never sent anywhere, so you can safely use it with work or school videos.

Just pick

Pick Discord as the place you are sending to, and the size and the picture quality are set for you. There is nothing complicated to set up.

No watermark

Nothing is stamped onto your video, and there is no limit on how many you make.

Picture quality like the pros

We use the numbers people use in video work. If the picture quality is going to drop a lot, we tell you before you save.

How to use it

  1. Choose the video you want to shrink.
  2. The target size starts at 50 MB. Type a different number if you want another size.
  3. Check "What you will get" to compare the size before and after.
  4. Press the button to make the file and save it.

50MB is the paid-chat-plan size

  • Discord Nitro Basic allows 50MB (Discord’s official help, checked on September 13, 2026; free is 20MB and Nitro is 500MB).
  • Company chat tools and intranets often cap files at 50MB.
  • It is also a good size to prepare a file before putting it on a file-transfer service.

How much video fits in 50MB

Video length Left for the picture (per second) What to expect
30 seconds About 13,200 kbps Close to the original
1 minute About 6,500 kbps 1080p with room to spare
3 minutes About 2,100 kbps 720p to 1080p
5 minutes About 1,200 kbps 720p is the sweet spot
10 minutes About 540 kbps 480p is the sweet spot

You can keep 720p even on a five-minute video, which is the real difference from 25MB. That matters for meeting recordings and screen walkthroughs, where the text has to stay readable.

Do not throw away quality you do not need to

50MB is generous, so if your video is already smaller than 50MB, sending the original looks better.

  • If the estimate is about the same as the original, send the original.
  • Compressing again only removes detail. Video loses information every time it is re-encoded.
  • The best case for this page is trimming a little — a 60MB file down to 50MB, for example.

Long videos

Past ten minutes, even 50MB gets rough. Either

  • keep only what you want to show (trim) — ten minutes down to three more than triples what the picture can use, or
  • build a 100MB file if the destination allows it.

Tips from the pros

  • 50 MB keeps a one- or two-minute video looking good. Start here and go smaller only if you need to.
  • Fitting a long video into 50 MB costs a lot of quality. Trimming first keeps the part you care about looking better at the same size.
  • If it will not fit, you will see how short it needs to be. Trim to that length and try again.

Common questions

Will it be exactly 50 MB?

It will not go over 50 MB. It usually lands a little under, and sometimes well under, depending on the video.

How much quality will I lose?

It depends on the length and size of the original. You can see the resulting size and frame rate before you start, and you are warned when quality would drop a lot.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser. You can turn on airplane mode after the page loads and it still works.

Does the sound stay?

Yes. If you do not need it, choose "Change the volume" and then "Mute" — that frees up room for the picture.

Can I use it as often as I like?

Yes. There is no limit on how many videos you make, no watermark, and no sign-up.
