Picture quality like the pros

We use the numbers people use in video work. If the picture quality is going to drop a lot, we tell you before you save.

How to use it

  1. Press "Choose a video" and pick the video you want to make smaller.
  2. Pick where you are sending it (Discord, X, and so on). You can also set the size yourself.
  3. Look at the size and picture quality we expect, then press "Compress and save".
  4. When it is finished, choose where to save it and save.

Tips from the pros

  • For the same file size, a longer video loses more picture quality. Cut out the parts you do not need and it stays clean at the same size.
  • For tall videos too, the size is set by the shorter side. A 1080x1920 video is treated as 1080.
  • Saving uses what is already built into your device. A computer is usually faster and gives a cleaner result.

Common questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your video is handled only on your own device. It even works with no internet connection (once the page has opened, you can try it in airplane mode).

Is there a limit on file size?

In Chrome and Edge you choose where to save first, so there is almost no limit. In Safari and Firefox the limit depends on your free space and memory.

How much does the picture quality drop?

We set the picture size and the frames per second so the file fits your target. If the quality is going to drop a lot, we tell you before you save.

Do I need an account, and does it cost anything?

Neither. The site is paid for by ads.

Some of my videos will not open.

Your device may not support that format. For HEVC videos from an iPhone, try the newest version of Chrome or Safari. "Change the format" turns them into MP4 so other devices can open them.
