How to use it

- Under "How do you want to edit it?", pick "Change the volume".
- Press "As loud as it goes". You can also halve it, soften it, or double it.
- Press the button to make the file with the new volume.
Tips from the pros
- "As loud as it goes" measures the whole soundtrack first, then raises it until the loudest moment sits just below clipping. That is safer than guessing a multiplier.
- Raising a nearly silent video only makes the hiss louder, so there is a cap on how far it will go.
- When you only change the volume, the picture is left completely untouched.
Common questions
How loud is "as loud as it goes"?
Just short of clipping (-1 dBFS). A little headroom is left because re-encoding can push peaks slightly higher.
Will the sound distort?
Anything past the limit is clamped, so it will not distort harshly. Sound that was already distorted cannot be repaired.
Can I make it quieter instead?
Yes — choose "Half" or "A little quieter".
Does the picture get worse?
Not if you only change the volume. If you also compress or trim, those choices apply as usual.
Does it work on long videos?
Yes. The sound is streamed rather than held in memory, so length is not a problem — it just takes longer.
